The Réaumur scale was created in 1730. French naturalist René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur determined temperature 0 °Ré is the thaw point of ice and 80 °Ré is the boiling point of water. It was very popular after introduction but already during 19th century it was replaced by other systems. That is why we meet this scale very rarely. The smallest part of scale is called Réaumur degree.
